Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 16, 2021) – A World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series tripleheader in the Dakotas is on tap for Jason Sides.

The action begins on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., for the Gerdau presents the Second Leg of the Northern Tour. Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., hosts the Gerdau presents the Duel in the Dakotas on Saturday before a Sunday event at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., for the Pioneer Seed Bin Buster Bash.

“I’m looking forward to heading to all three tracks,” he said. “I didn’t get to race in Grand Forks earlier this year when the Outlaws raced there and we’ve had some success in West Fargo. Some mechanical problems hampered us at Huset’s earlier this summer so hopefully it’s a smoother night this time.”

Qualifying was the culprit that stymied Sides and teammate Tim Kaeding last week during the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores at Knoxville Raceway.

The event began on Wednesday with Sides’ preliminary night. He qualified 36th quickest, placed second in a heat race and ended 18th in the A Main.

“I didn’t get a good qualifying lap,” he said. “We didn’t take off real well and ended up second in the heat race. I was okay by myself, but when you got behind somebody it had a weird feeling so that made it tough to move forward as we started so far back in the feature.”

Kaeding’s preliminary night the following evening ended early with a mechanical problem.

“In hot laps they ran a couple of laps, slowed down and then went through the normal session,” Sides said. “When he got back on the gas it shook and shuttered. He pulled in and then they started qualifying. We weren’t going to be able to change motors in time. We decided we’ll scrap that night, but at the drivers meeting they said you must make a lap in qualifying on your preliminary night to run on Friday. We changed cars and he just rolled around a slow lap so he could race Friday.”

Sides and Kaeding missed the heat race inversion during Friday’s Hard Knox Night. Both drivers ended the night in a B Main.

The event concluded on Saturday with Sides winning the E Main before finishing 18th in the D Main. Kaeding advanced from 15th to seventh in the C Main to narrowly miss a transfer.
