Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 10, 2021) – Gunner Ramey showed improvement throughout the 31st annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank.

The Terry Doogs Racing driver progressed from the first time he hit the track to his final race at Knoxville Raceway, which hosted the marquee event.

“It was a cool experience being able to go,” Ramey said of his 360 Knoxville Nationals debut. “I grew up going and watching as a fan. I got to make my Knoxville debut this year and now got to run the 360 Knoxville Nationals so that’s pretty cool. But I think we should have been and could have been better.”

The racing began on Friday for Ramey, who qualified 33rd quickest to narrowly miss the heat race inversion. He then finished eighth in a heat race and 14th in the B Main.

“We just didn’t time in well,” he said. “With that big of a car count and competition you’re definitely behind the eight ball. Really it was a struggle all night and we weren’t too fast.”

The team returned to the track on Saturday for the event finale.

“Our focus was on getting better and making laps,” Ramey said. “I feel like we figured some stuff out. We regrouped and worked hard during the day. I feel like we were going in a positive direction and got the car working good. We were better on Saturday than we were in a while at Knoxville so that was good.”

Ramey advanced from sixth to fifth place in the D Main and from 23rd to 13th in the C Main.

“The first two times we went to Knoxville this year we were pretty good,” he said. “We were trying to change stuff to make the car better. Some things worked and some things didn’t. We ended up going in the wrong direction. We went back to our base setup as far as blocking, turns and bars on Saturday and then we just fine-tuned from there.”

Ramey will take this weekend off before resuming action Aug. 21 at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., and Aug. 22 at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo.
