Ramey Prepares for Pair of Races Following Rainy Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (July 15, 2021) – Mother Nature won out last weekend and kept Gunner Ramey at home instead of a race track.

“It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to get out there over the weekend, but it’s just one of those things you can’t control,” he said.

The Terry Doogs Racing driver had intended to run a local show at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Saturday night before rain washed out the night of competition.

Ramey used the time away from the track in the race shop, preparing for a busy upcoming weekend when he will battle on Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Mo., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and ASCS Warrior Region before heading to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday.

“U.S. 36 Raceway is where I turned my first-ever laps in a winged sprint car so it’s always special to go back there,” he said. “It’s a super fun place to race and I’ve always enjoyed going there. The track is fun and fast and we’re looking to get a top 10 there on Friday night.”

Ramey has made one career start at the high-banked track, which came in 2020 when he finished 12th in the feature.

As for Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, Ramey said he is looking to carry over positive results from Friday.

“The key is going to be a good qualifying effort to set us up for a good night,” he said. “It all starts in qualifying. If we can do a good job there and start off strong, it makes it a little bit easier to start near the front of the field for the feature.”

Ramey has a best finish of 10th during four starts at Knoxville Raceway this season.
