Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 26, 2021) – Scott Bogucki has enjoyed a fast race car without much luck this year.

Fortune changed last Friday when the SawBlade.com driver caught a break late in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour main event at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill. Bogucki was running second when the leader had an incident with a car he was trying to lap. That gave Bogucki the top spot and he took advantage to lead the final six laps for his first triumph of the season.

“I feel like it’s been a lot longer coming and we should have had one earlier, but it was good to get it out of the way,” he said. “It builds the confidence. We’ve had speed all year. We just haven’t had the luck to go with it. We got it together and nearly got it together again at Knoxville the next day.”

Bogucki was once again fast throughout Friday night. He powered from third to win a heat race and was the high-point driver. He drew the No. 2 in the feature redraw and maintained second place throughout most of the 25-lap race before inheriting the lead.

The victory – his fifth career ASCS National Tour triumph – moved him to fourth in the championship standings and only 88 points out of the lead.

With rain washing out the ensuing night’s ASCS National Tour show, Bogucki headed to Knoxville Raceway. He qualified seventh quickest and advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“We’re always good when we go there, but we were really, really tight early on,” he said. “We finally got freed up come feature-time.”

Bogucki quickly worked his way toward the front and he took the lead on Lap 7. He looked to be cruising to his second win of the weekend, but a late caution bunched the field together.

“On the restart the motor stumbled,” he said. “I should have covered the slider, but I didn’t. That’s on me and we got passed for the lead.”

Bogucki’s runner-up result was his sixth top five of the season.

Up next will be the Sprint and Midget Nationals presented by The Drivers Project this Saturday and Sunday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“Hopefully we can carry the speed we’ve got and keep the ball rolling,” he said. “It’s a confidence game and once you get going you’re going.

“We’ve had some good runs there. I ran third a couple of years ago in a big race. The last time we were there was a regional race earlier this year and we should have at least ran second, but we got that flat tire. Hopefully this weekend goes well.”
