Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 4, 2021) – Jack Dover is planning on being a regular at Huset’s Speedway this season.

Dover will pilot a sprint car owned by Rick and Chris Bowers at the high-banked oval in Brandon, S.D., this Sunday during the track’s season opener.

“They want to race there regularly and see if we have a chance to run in the top five in points,” Dover said. “We’ll get a month into it and see. I think we’ll at least be at 80 percent of the races at Huset’s Speedway and 80 percent of the races at Jackson Motorplex (in Jackson, Minn.).

“On Sunday we’re hoping to finish the night. It’s the first night on a brand new motor and in a different car. They got a new trailer over the winter and have been working on that. We’ll have to work together and make it through the first night smoothly.”

Dover will also race his 360ci winged sprint car on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where he has competed the last two weeks. He timed in 17th quickest, placed second in a heat race and finished 12th in the feature last Saturday at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

“I missed the line two times and my car was stuck on the right rear in qualifying,” he said. “We were trying stuff and maybe went too far. In the heat race we switched gears and put too much in. The gear we put in was for the bottom. The better lane was up top and I had too much gear to run up there.

“Come feature-time we rode around and got a couple of spots. We ran the bottom about half the race and the top half the race. I was trying different stuff. We want to do well, but at the same time we want to learn.”

This Saturday gives Dover another opportunity to grow at one of the only sprint car tracks in the Midwest where he’s still seeking his first trip to Victory Lane.

“We’re going in with something completely different with bars and some other stuff,” he said. “In my head it should work. We’re trying to get comfortable again like we were a couple of years ago when we were regularly in the top five there.”
