Dover Heading to Iowa for 360 Knoxville Nationals and Ultimate Challenge

Inside Line Promotions – BELLEVILLE, Kan. (Aug. 3, 2020) – Jack Dover is aiming to deliver strong results this weekend when he invades Iowa for two big events.

Dover will compete on Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville during the 30th annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank before racing on Sunday at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Co.

“I think we have a good shot at doing better this year than we have in the past because we’ve found something that I’m comfortable with at Knoxville,” he said. “It seems like when we’d go we were trying stuff to make the car better. Now we have a good baseline to start with.”

Dover has two straight top-10 runs at the half-mile track this season. He has enjoyed one top five and four top 10s during his career at the 360 Knoxville Nationals.

Dover placed 10th during the Ultimate Challenge last year and he was in contention for a podium finish in 2018.

“I think we were running third two years ago when I clipped the rear bumper of someone in front of me,” he said. “It knocked the nose wing down so I had to pull off running third. I know we can run well there.”

Dover endured misfortune throughout the 305 Sprint Nationals at Belleville High Banks last weekend.

“We missed hot laps because of mechanical problems on Friday,” he said. “We got that figured out, but the track was hard to gain positions on.”

Dover advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race. He then won a qualifier from the pole position to line up 10th in the A Main.

“We were all over third place when we burned a piston in the motor so that night ended in a DNF,” he said. “Butch Bade was nice enough to let us use one of their motors for the finale so we’re thankful for that.”

Saturday’s event finale was postponed to Sunday because of rain. Dover gained two positions in a heat race to finish fifth. He then placed third in a B Main to lock into the main event.

“The track had rubbered down and was around the bottom,” he said. “We didn’t want to burn up tires so we started and parked. I was looking forward to having a good result at Belleville, but it didn’t go that way so we’ll move on to the 360 Knoxville Nationals.”
