Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (May 14, 2020) – Kerry Madsen is riding a wave of confidence as Big Game Motorsports heads to Jackson Motorplex this weekend.

The Killer Instinct Crossbows sponsored team has showcased speed throughout its three races following a lengthy pause from racing because of COVID-19. Madsen earned a podium finish during his return and while he didn’t get the results the team aimed for during two races in the last week, Madsen noted that he is confident in the speed and balance the sprint car has displayed.

The team visited Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, last Friday for a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series race. Madsen qualified second quickest in his group before a third-place result in a heat race lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.

“We qualified good, but had a bad restart in the heat and ended up third,” he said. “We were running pretty good in the A Main. I think we were battling for around seventh when we had the left rear tire blow for some reason. I don’t know if we ran something over or had a bleeder issue. We weren’t perfect, but we were having a good night.”

Madsen restarted at the back of the back and rallied for an 18th-place result.

The team then headed to Texas to tackle the West Texas Crude Nationals at West Texas Raceway. The two-day event began on Tuesday with Madsen setting quick time in his heat race during his first 360ci winged sprint car race since September 2016. A fourth-place result in a heat race locked him into a dash.

“I got a bad draw for the dash so we started last,” he said. “We got a spot to finish fourth and then started eighth in the A Main. It was hard to pass and we weren’t that great, but it was our first 360 race together so that gave us a lot of great notes for the future. Given the circumstances it wasn’t bad.”

Madsen battled for a top five throughout the main event before ending seventh. The event finale rained out on Wednesday.

The team has shifted its focus to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., which hosts the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey’s Five Star Roofing this Friday and Saturday. Madsen has been victorious at the track during three of the last four years.
