Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 27, 2019) – With rain canceling the scheduled Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race in Arkansas last Saturday, Robbie Price made the 580-mile trek to Knoxville Raceway and he made the most of the trip by earning a top 10.

“We were about halfway to Arkansas before it started raining, so we turned around and headed to Knoxville,” he said. “I was on my own due to time change and my guys not being able to catch up to me in time. So for turning wrenches and driving the car it wasn’t a bad night.”

Price began the unexpected trip to the famed Iowa oval by timing in 22nd quickest out of 38 cars with a lap of 16.902 seconds. In heat race action, he lined up from the pole position before dropping back one spot to finish second.

“I should’ve run the top on the first lap of qualifying, but I tried the bottom and it set us back a bit,” he said. “I didn’t really protect my line in the heat and cost us a win as well. Overall just the driver making poor decisions.”

Price had his work cut out for him as he lined up 20th for the A Main. Following an early red flag and several other cautions, Price maneuvered his way to the 10th-place result. The 10 spots advanced were the second most of anybody in the field.

“I just tried to keep my nose clean and pass cars where I could,” he said. “Overall for a last-minute change of scenery and being on my own, it was a good weekend and I was very pleased.”

Next up for the Cobble Hill, B.C., native will be a visit to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Friday night followed up with a two-day show at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Saturday and Sunday night. All are ASCS National Tour shows.

Price enters the weekend eighth in the championship standings – only trailing seventh by 38 points. He’s hoping with three nights of racing and a return to some smaller tracks that he can make up some ground.

“I’ve been to 34 Raceway before so I feel comfortable coming in there,” he said. “I like that we are getting to some of these smaller tracks as I really like running the bullrings. We’ll try and do our best and see if we can move up in the points.”
