Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 26, 2019) – Kerry Madsen wrapped up the season at Knoxville Raceway by scoring his seventh podium of the year at the half-mile oval last Saturday.

That ranks second best among all drivers and the performance guided Big Game Motorsports to a ninth-place finish in the championship standings despite missing multiple races.

“Outside of the special shows we didn’t finish a race outside of third,” Madsen said. “That is pretty good. We missed four points races so to still be in the top 10 is pretty good.”

The KI Crossbows sponsored team opened Saturday’s action by qualifying second quickest. Madsen followed that by advancing from sixth to third place in a heat race, making him the high-points earner. Unfortunately, he then drew the highest number in the feature redraw to start the A Main eighth.

“The further you start toward the front the higher the percentages of winning,” he said. “The race was also shortened from 25 laps to 20 laps. It rained right before the A Main so it was hard to work each pass. To get to third was pretty good.”

Madsen’s third-place outing was his 11th top five of the season.

The team is scheduled to take this weekend off before resuming competition Sept. 5 at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., and Sept. 6-7 at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions.
