Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 12, 2019) – Kraig Kinser posted a top-10 finish to highlight his experience at the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores.

The strong result came after a mid-pack run on Thursday when Kinser began the marquee event at Knoxville Raceway. He qualified 31st quickest out of more than 50 drivers and he placed third in a heat race to lock into the A Main. He finished the night 16th.

“It was similar to last year I feel like,” he said. “I struggled in qualifying on our preliminary night. We need to figure out a way to get qualified better. We could have been a little better handling and could have put the car in better positions. Just little things here and there. We were missing a little bit all weekend.”

Kinser returned to the oval on Friday for Hard Knox Night, when nearly 80 drivers battled throughout the final night of competition before Saturday’s evening of features. Kinser qualified 12th quickest in his group and he won a heat race. That locked him into the 18th starting position for the main event.

Kinser rallied to a ninth-place finish to mark his 16th top 10 of the season. It also lined him up 15th in the B Main on Saturday. He gained a handful of positions to place 11th, missing a transfer and ending his Nationals. However, it marked his best result at the event since 2016.

“We were lacking speed to begin with, but we were also not doing ourselves any favors with the car balance-wise,” he said. “You’re always learning. The lessons probably sting a little more coming out of Knoxville. A lot of times it can change your mindset going down the road and can make you better. Doing things wrong here sit in your mind a little longer.”

Kinser resumes World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the Second Leg of the Northern Tour before a race on Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., during the Duel in the Dakotas.
