Inside Line Promotions – OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2019) – Jack Dover highlighted his week in Iowa with a top-10 showing during the Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Co. on Monday at Southern Iowa Speedway.

Dover kicked off the race by finishing where he started – third – in a heat race. That locked him into the 14th starting position for the A Main.

“I got a great initial start and was inside the top 10, but there was a crash so we had a complete restart,” he said. “The guys knew where I was going and took that line on the second attempt so I didn’t get as many positions. Then rubber came in so we got what we could and finished 10th.”

Dover began the action last Friday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during his preliminary night of the 29th annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank. A high pill draw had him qualifying toward the end of the field. He timed in 29th quickest out of more than 50 competitors, which put him on the pole of a heat race.

“Going out so late hurt because the track slowed down,” he said. “We felt good in the heat and won it, but we were buried in the A Main.”

Dover gained a trio of positions to finish 16th.

Once preliminary points were calculated Dover was on the pole of the C Main on Saturday. He won that race to transfer into the back of the B Main, in which he rallied from 21st to 11th.

“We made progress and passed some cars, but the biggest thing is we learned a ton with our setup and fueling,” he said. “I wish it was all starting again right now.”

Dover is scheduled to take this weekend off before resuming competition on Aug. 17 at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., with the Midwest Power Series and Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
