Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 6, 2019) – Sides Motorsports is entering the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores with momentum.

Tim Kaeding produced a great night on Sunday during the 8th annual Bell Helmets Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank, charging to a top-10 result from deep in the field at Knoxville Raceway. It was the final tune-up prior to the Nationals, which runs this Wednesday through Saturday.

“He made the best of it,” team owner Jason Sides said. “We know he knows how to get around there and he got better as the night went on.”

Kaeding qualified 21st quickest in his group. He then rallied from seventh to fourth place in a heat race, which was one position shy of making the A Main. That relegated him to the 12th starting spot in a B Main.

“We didn’t have a real good qualifying run and we missed it by one in the heat,” Sides said. “He got more laps. The heat is only eight laps where the B Main was 12. With the couple of extra laps he got by those cars and continued to move forward each time he was on the track.”

Kaeding rallied to win the consolation race and earn a transfer into the back of the main event. He then powered from 20th to a sixth-place finish, which marked the team’s 10th top 10 of the season.

Both Kaeding and Sides will compete at Knoxville Raceway this week during the Knoxville Nationals.

Sides raced with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Friday and Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., during the Ironman 55. Both nights played out the same and ended with a rally from 20th to 15th in the main event.

“Qualifying is everything right now,” Sides said. “If you qualify in the back you’ll start in the back of everything. We need to qualify a little better.”
