Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 5, 2019) – Brian Brown produced a trio of runner-up results last weekend at Knoxville Raceway, which hosted the 29th annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank as well as the 8th annual Bell Helmets Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank.

“You have to be quick every time you hit the track,” Brown said. “I feel like we’ve had an opportunity to win every single night we’ve been there. That’s all you can ask for.”

Aug. 2 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – Qualifying: 5; Heat race: 2 (6); Feature: 2 (5).

“I got to second (in the feature) and we got into heavy traffic,” Brown said. “It was a whale of a race. I was able to get to Davey (Heskin) and pass for the lead, but the yellow came out and put me behind Davey for the restart. I guessed wrong and it worked well for James (McFadden). It was a game of chess at that point. I just chose wrong. James got by both of us and then I got back by Davey to finish second. You can’t win these big events on the prelim night, but you can lose them.”

Aug. 3 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – Feature: 2 (3).

“We had to change an engine, which wasn’t ideal,” Brown said. “The guys did a phenomenal job. We didn’t get any hot laps so that was unfortunate. We were trying some stuff. We don’t run our 360 very much anymore. We took off in the race and I knew I needed to get to second as quick as I could. I chased down James and had a good race with him side by side. It came down to he didn’t make any mistakes. We were within two or three car lengths the whole time. He did a good job of blocking a couple of times. That was a little disappointing, but like I said in the press conference after the race we’re disappointed, but not ungrateful.”

Aug. 4 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – Qualifying: 1; Heat race: 1 (4); Pole Shuffle: 1 (2); Feature: 2 (1).

“It was a huge field, probably the biggest one-day field you’ll see all year,” Brown said. “Ralph Capitani is a huge part of why Knoxville Raceway is where it’s at today. Bell Helmets being the sponsor of the race was big as well. I think I’ve won 180-plus races and every single one has been with a Bell helmet. They make the best product and safest on the market.

“It was great to go out late and set quick time in our qualifying group. Then we won the heat and the pole shuffle. We had a whale of a battle with David (Gravel) and Gio (Scelzi) in the feature. I’ve ran second three times this week, but I’ve got beat three different ways. We’ll put that in the memory bank and hopefully use it to our advantage later.”

UP NEXT – Monday at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, for the 24th annual Sage Fruit Front Row Challenge presented by Musco Lighting and Wednesday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, for the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores
