Inside Line Promotions – WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (July 31, 2019) – Kerry Madsen recorded a pair of top fives and a trio of top 10s during a four-race weekend with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions.

The action began last Thursday at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., where the Big Game Motorsports driver qualified fifth quickest overall and second in his group. Madsen placed second in a heat race and third in a dash before capping the night with a ninth-place outing in the A Main.

“We were moving up and there was a restart with a few to go and I got a little impatient,” he said. “I think we were running fifth or sixth at the time. I ended up losing a bunch of spots. That was disappointing.”

Madsen qualified sixth quickest and second in his group on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn. However, a fifth-place heat race run relegated the KI Crossbows backed driver to the 18th starting spot.

“We had some issues in the heat and with the All Star format that buried us,” he said. “The track was really good in the A Main. We drove up to fourth and probably could have got a little further. I was going anywhere. We had a great car and the track was really racy. It’s a lot of fun when you can drive through the field like that.”

Madsen earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars after maneuvering from 18th to fourth.

The team’s best run came on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where Madsen qualified seventh quickest and second in his group. He placed second in a heat race and won a dash to garner the pole position for the main event. Madsen led the first nine laps before he finished second in the feature.

“We had the lead early and were guilty of being too good too early,” he said. “About halfway through the run we lost some speed. Gio (Scelzi) went the opposite way and found some speed and we ended up with a second-place result.”

The weekend concluded on Sunday at 34 Raceway, where a 29th-place qualifying effort – fifth in his group – missed the heat race inversion. Madsen gained a position in the heat to finish fourth before he rallied from 16th to 12th in the A Main.

“I hit a hole both laps in qualifying,” he said. “I didn’t make a good enough adjustment on my second lap and lost a lot of time. We started deep in the A Main. We were making progress and then the track laid rubber.”

Madsen plans on returning to action this Friday and Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., during the Ironman 55 with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. He will then return to Knoxville Raceway on Sunday for the 8th annual Bell Helmets Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank.
