Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 8, 2019) – Justin Henderson and Mike Sandvig Racing returned to weekly 410 sprint car action at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday, posting a solid sixth-place result against a stout field of 23 drivers.

Henderson began the night by going out ninth in time trials and laying down the fifth fastest lap at a time of 15.661 seconds. Following time trials, Henderson lined up fifth in his heat race and advanced one spot to finish in the fourth position.

“The car was ok, but we were a little loose,” he said. “The track was a little freer than we thought heading out there, but ultimately we moved forward.”

Henderson began the 20-lap feature on the outside front row alongside Parker Price-Miller, who got the early jump. Henderson settled into the second position before dropping to third several laps into the race. He then maintained a podium spot until the final handful of laps when he faded to sixth.

“We had a really good battle going early with Lynton Jeffrey and it was really fun out there,” he said. “Once Lynton kind of closed me out, I just felt like I couldn’t really put anything together to keep moving forward and the guys were gaining on us.

“I’m not really sure the reason. Maybe we missed the setup or maybe I just wasn’t hitting my marks, but we’ll get it figured out and be better next week.”

Next up for Henderson and Sandvig will be Van Wall Equipment Mario County Fair Night next Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

Henderson currently sits in the fifth position in the track’s championship battle – 112 markers behind current point leader Terry McCarl. He trails fourth place Brooke Tatnell by a mere three points.

“We’ve consistently been a fifth to seventh-place car, but we really want to be a top-three car,” Henderson said. “If we get our act together we can definitely make something happen points-wise. I don’t think a championship is out of the realm of possibility at this point. We haven’t really reached our full potential quite yet and if we can put together a few solid runs here we’ll be right in things.”
