Sandvig Racing has Big Weekend Ahead at Jackson Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 24, 2019) – Justin Henderson was hoping to have a successful Saturday at Knoxville Raceway as he seeks continued growth in the Mike Sandvig owned sprint car.

With 22 410ci winged sprint cars in attendance, Henderson qualified 11th quickest and he gained a position to finish second in a heat race. The team was scheduled to roll off ninth in the A Main. Unfortunately, rain hit the track just before the beginning of the 360 sprint car feature and both the 360 and 410 main events were rained out.

After dropping a new Rider Racing Engine in the car, Henderson was able to find a bit of solace in getting to take a few laps despite the cancellation.

“We just got a fresh Rider Engine in the car so we really only needed a couple laps to get the bugs out and make sure everything was working right,” he said. “We didn’t get much time on track, but I feel good about where we are going as a program.”

Next up, the team is set to make its first trip of the season to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for three nights of racing during the 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this Thursday through Saturday.

“A lot of our sponsors are from the Jackson area so it’ll be nice to get out there and see where we stack up against some really great teams,” Henderson said. “As a team, we have never been here before. However, I’m really familiar with Jackson and I think it’ll be a weekend of minor adjustments and not taking big swings at things.”

Henderson is excited about the opportunity to race at the recently renovated 4/10-mile dirt oval in what has become one of the premier 410 sprint car events in the country. It also doesn’t hurt to have an opportunity to take home the $41,000 prize Saturday night.

“We’re still learning as a team and building, but I think a reasonable goal would be a top-10 car on the first two nights and get ourselves locked into Night 3,” he said. “Mike Sandvig gives us great equipment and to have a chance at that $41,000 payday is all you can ask for. It’s up to us to put ourselves in that position and I’m looking forward to it.”
