Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 18, 2019) – Big Game Motorsports driver Kerry Madsen produced a 13th-place result on Friday to kick off the Brownells Big Guns Bash at Knoxville Raceway.

That was the best result of the weekend for the KI Crossbows backed team, which worked to overcome mid-pack qualifying runs each night during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader.

“We’re not sure why we were off the pace,” Madsen said. “That’s unusual for us. The car felt good and the laps were good. I don’t know why we didn’t have the speed. We’re going to try to figure that out this week.”

Madsen timed in 10th quickest in his group on Friday. He advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race before gaining two positions in the main event to end 13th.

“We weren’t bad early in the A Main, but the left rear tire shrunk two and a half inches,” he said. “It kept us pretty free at the end of the run. We got in line and couldn’t pass anyone at that point.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday with Madsen qualifying 13th quickest in his group. A seventh-place finish in a heat race relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. Madsen placed fourth in the race to garner the final transfer into the main event.

“We battled in the back and we passed a few and got passed by a few,” he said. “I ended up pulling in later in the race because I thought we had an issue, but it turned out not to be anything.”

The team will return to action this Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam., Wis., during the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers before racing on Sunday at Dubuque Speedway in Dubuque, Iowa, with the World of Outlaws.

Madsen won an IRA Sprint Car Series event at Beaver Dam Raceway last year. Sunday will mark his debut at Dubuque Speedway.
