Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 4, 2019) – Jack Dover highlighted last weekend with a fifth-place run on Friday at Jackson Motorplex.

The oval in Jackson, Minn., hosted a Midwest Power Series and Midwest Sprint Touring Series event that featured 46 competitors. Dover, who spent the weekend driving for Rick and Chris Bowers, won a heat race from the pole to kick off the action. He then placed fourth in the dash.

Dover battled for a top five throughout the A Main before ending fifth, which marked his fourth top five of the season.

“It was decent,” he said. “It could have been better, but we learned some stuff. We rode where we started and tried to maintain because the track was pretty rough. For being the first time there this year and the track conditions and the competition that was there we were really happy with the outcome.”

Dover took that momentum into an event at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday. He qualified seventh in his group and 10th overall out of 48 drivers.

“We’re getting better at time trials,” he said. “A couple of years ago we weren’t very good so that’s getting better. In the heat we fell to sixth, but we were able to get up to third.”

The third-place heat run combined with his qualifying performance ranked Dover ninth in overall points. That started him on the inside of the fifth row for the A Main.

“We got up to sixth before a yellow came out with seven laps to go,” he said. “Our left rear tire sealed up and quit working. That’s why we fell back to 13th. That’s twice that has happened there.”

Dover held on to a 13th-place result in the closing laps.

“We ran the top the majority of the feature,” he said. “It was the best the car has felt there up top. We tried some stuff and were really pleased with it. It was an average night, but we learned some stuff so it was a good night.”

Dover is scheduled to drive for Rick and Chris Bowers this Friday at Jackson Motorplex before returning to his sprint car on Saturday at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints.
