Inside Line Promotions – MANSFIELD, Ohio (June 3, 2019) – Kerry Madsen capped last weekend by tying his season-best result of second place on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

Madsen and the KI Crossbows backed Big Game Motorsports team elected to tackle the half-mile oval after rain hassled the COMP Cams Sprint Car World Championship at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio.

Thursday’s preliminary night and Saturday’s finale both rained out, making Friday’s preliminary action the only race to be contested. Madsen qualified ninth quickest in his group and he won a heat race to start an A Main on the outside of the front row.

Madsen led the first half of the race before a parts failure ended his night early. He was credited with a 15th-place finish.

“I had a really good race car, but we broke a throttle rod,” he said. “It was just a part that was already in the system so it’s nothing we’ve done this year. It’s one of those weird things that happen. It’s a shame. That buried us so we looked at it and thought at that point, and with the chance of rain on Saturday, we’ll just go to Knoxville.”

The team had speed throughout Saturday’s show at Knoxville Raceway, where Madsen qualified second quickest before he charged from sixth to second place in both a heat race and the main event.

“We had a great night,” he said. “The first five laps we were really, really quick in the A Main. After a restart we lost air pressure in the right rear tire and we weren’t as good. I couldn’t challenge for the lead. It was good to go because we qualified well and ran well in the heat. It was well worth the effort being the next time we’ll be back at Knoxville it will be the World of Outlaws event (next week).”

Madsen and Big Game Motorsports have a trio of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races on tap this week. Madsen will make his debut at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., on Tuesday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. The team will then race on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the Northern Tour and on Saturday at Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
