Starks Aiming for Better Weather With Jackson and Knoxville on Tap

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 27, 2019) – Trey Starks is getting really good at flying to the Midwest each weekend.
Starks ventured to Knoxville Raceway last weekend only to have both races rained out. Six of the first eight races at the track this season have been cancelled or postponed because of wet weather, which is a new record for the half-mile oval.
“We rained out in the middle of qualifying on Saturday,” he said. “We were eighth quickest and we had about four cars left. We were trying some different things. The car was little different than we thought it was. We weren’t expecting it to do the things it did. It was good to get some laps on it. That gave us a little direction.”
That made the weekend not a total waste and the Gobrecht Motorsports driver is hopeful for dry weather this weekend when he will make his debut at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., on Friday before returning to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.
Starks will race a 360ci winged sprint cars both nights with the Midwest Power Series. He will also be in 410ci winged sprint car competition on Saturday.
“It’s really not a huge difference to do double duty,” he said. “It’s better from a driver’s standpoint because you get more time on the track, but it’s more stressful in the pits. You have to stay on top of it. If you get behind on one car you get behind on both cars.”
Starks last did double duty in April 2018 at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., where he earned a third-place finish in 360 action and was 18th in 410 competition. He also did double duty four different times in 2015 and he recorded a top five during at least three of those four times.
