Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 22, 2019) – Jamie Ball is riding a wave of confidence following a successful season opener at his home track of Knoxville Raceway last Saturday.

The White Lightning Motorsports driver set quick time during qualifying before closing the night with a top-five result, which was his second top five of the season and fourth top 10 in five starts.

“The track was unseasonably slick,” he said. “It was more like a 360 Nationals type of track where it slicks off quick. We put down a really good lap to be quick time. That was a big confidence booster for me and our team.”

Ball maneuvered from sixth to third place in a heat race to lock himself into the feature. He ranked second in overall points. However, the main event was inverted by eight so that lined him up on the inside of the fourth row.

“I felt pretty racy right off the bat,” he said. “I had good starts, which I can credit to spending last year on the ASCS National Tour. You pick up that intensity there because the starts are so critical. I made some mistakes in the middle of the feature that slowed our progress. We could have had a fourth place or maybe a third-place car, but we’re thrilled to get a fifth-place finish.

“It was a super solid night. It’s by far going to be the most stout field we’ll see at Knoxville other than the week before the 360 Nationals. It showed we can not only turn good laps, but we can move forward while racing with a great field.”

Ball has a busy weekend on tap. He is slated to compete this Thursday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., and Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour before wrapping up the weekend on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

“I’ve never been to Eagle or U.S. 36, but I think they will suit me fairly well,” he said. “We have confidence going forward after a solid start to the year. Rob Hart has our program rolling. Our cars are perfect and the crew is doing a great job.”
