Starks Ready to Return to Knoxville Raceway Following Lessons Learned During Opener

Inside Line Promotions – KNXOVILLE, Iowa (April 22, 2019) – Trey Starks is optimistic that Gobrecht Motorsports will take its biggest leap between the first and second races of the season at Knoxville Raceway.

The team tackled the season opener at the half-mile oval last Saturday and struggled with speed.

“There were a lot of cars that showed up,” Starks said. “It was one of their best openers in a couple of years I think. For our first night out we had our struggles, but going to a new track is something you’ll run into. We didn’t have the speed we wanted to throughout the night. However, we made the feature and got to run some laps, which is key for progressing on this track with the new personnel we have.”

Starks qualified 18th quickest to open the night.

“We need to qualify better,” he said. “Usually qualifying is our strong suit, but we were just a little bit off. If we work on that I think our nights will go better.”

A fifth-place run in a heat race locked Starks into the main event. He capped the night by placing 21st in the A Main.

“We needed a little more to be competitive,” he said. “We need to tune some things up a bit, but we know where the improvements need to be made and I think we know how to do it so that’s relieving knowing that.

“Being in Pennsylvania the last couple of years the tracks are a lot different. There isn’t anything quite like Knoxville so we need to get our notebook built up and that will come with time.”

Starks and the team will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.
