Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 13, 2018) – Sides Motorsports registered a top-five finish last weekend during the 58th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores.

Tim Kaeding joined Jason Sides as members of a two-car team that tackled the prestigious event at Knoxville Raceway.

“Tim did a great job and it was awesome to see him run so well at such a big event,” Sides said. “We want to thank Dave Lunstra, Lone Dakota Acres and East River Ag Services for their support.”

Kaeding qualified 13th quickest, maneuvered from sixth to second place during a heat race and advanced a position in the main event to finish fourth on Thursday during his preliminary action. That was good enough to rank 10th in overall points out of more than 90 competitors, locking him into Saturday’s main event.

He capped the spectacle by maneuvering to a fifth-place finish on Saturday, a night after charging from 11th to second place during the World Challenge.

“Tim has still got it,” Sides said. “I guess some people shouldn’t be so quick to say he isn’t at the top of his game.”

Sides timed in 18th quickest during his preliminary night on Wednesday. A seventh-place finish in a heat race was followed by a 16th-place run in the B Main.

“I tried to make both cars identical all weekend, but we needed to be a little freer than Tim had his car,” Sides said.

Sides had his best night of the Knoxville Nationals on Friday when he qualified ninth quickest in his group, placed third in a heat race and closed the night with an 11th-place result. That lined him up toward the back of Saturday’s B Main.

“That’s pretty tough starting back there knowing you have to make it to the top four to transfer into the main event,” he said. “We learned some things last weekend that I think we can apply to future races so that’s a positive.”

Sides, who was credited with a 20th-place result, will race with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the 2nd Leg of the Northern Tour and Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., during the Duel in the Dakotas.
