Hill Gains Experience Against Stout Competition in Iowa

Inside Line Promotions – OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Aug. 10, 2018) – Iowa wasn’t a gracious host to Alex Hill during the last week as her results from three nights of racing there with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com weren’t as hoped.

Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, was the site of her first two nights of racing as Hill joined approximately 90 other drivers in competition during the 28th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank last weekend. She qualified 40th quickest out of 48 cars a week ago Friday before eventually finishing 21st in the B Main. In the event’s finale the following evening, she placed 15th in the D Main.

“I felt like our car was fast,” she said. “Knoxville is just a tough track. It’s different than most others. The competition level at the 360 Nationals is really high. Everyone brings their best equipment and there are a lot of good 410 drivers who race it.

“I made some errors and those are really hard to make up for at a track like Knoxville where momentum is so important. I also need to work on my starts and do better on them. I lost some ground on them.”

Hill’s third night of racing was Tuesday at Southern Iowa Speedway during the Sage Fruit Ultimate ASCS Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Company. She placed sixth in a heat race and 12th in the B Main.

“It was kind of the same thing at Oskaloosa,” she said. “Our car was good. We just had really strong competition and it was another track that I raced on for the first time. But we got some more laps and experience and finished every race in three nights of racing. I’m looking forward to our next race.”

Hill will continue competition with the ASCS National Tour on Aug. 18 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, and Aug. 19 at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo.
