Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2018) – Jamie Ball had some strong moments throughout the 28th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank last weekend at his home track of Knoxville Raceway.

The White Lightning Motorsports driver kicked off the weekend on Thursday during his preliminary night at the half-mile oval. He timed in ninth quickest out of 43 entries.

“We had a pretty good pill draw number and were able to get a good qualifying position,” he said. “It was a good lap that put us ninth on the board and we were able to work with moving forward.”

Ball lined up on the inside of the third row for a heat race and he advanced three positions to finish second. That started him on the outside of the second row for the feature event. Ball remained in the top three for the first half of the feature, but faded to an eighth-place finish.

“We had a decent night for our qualifying race,” he said. “I kind of expected the track to slicken up and widen out, but we still ended up locking ourselves into Saturday’s show for the fifth consecutive year, which is pretty cool.”

Ball ranked ninth in overall points out of more than 90 drivers once preliminary points were tabulated. He started the 25-lap finale on Saturday on the inside of the fifth row and he remained around 10th before contact from a fellow competitor sent him on a wild ride.

“We were tight in the feature and I was hoping the track would free up a little bit,” he said. “I was running the cushion and made contact with Brooke (Tatnell) and that ultimately ended our night. It definitely was one of the worst wrecks I’ve been in, but luckily I was able to walk away and we are able to race another day.”

Ball was credited with a 24th-place result.

Next up for White Lightning Motorsports is the 58th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores, which is this Wednesday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
