Bryan Hulbert – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 1, 2018) A couple weeks ago, Wayne Johnson started tossing different setups at the DHR Suspension No. 2c, and so far, his testing has been productive with a podium finish Sunday night at Mason City Motor Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

“We were experimenting this past weekend and learning some stuff and actually my car was way better than it has been in a while so we’re looking forward to this weekend. We figured out a couple control issues on the car I’d been having as far as what this car can and can’t do, but the track was way better this year than it was last year so that helped,” commented Johnson of the season’s 23rd top-five run.

Leading into the Mason City run, Wayne made his second run of the season in 410cid competition at Knoxville Raceway with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. Timing second overall, Johnson advanced fourth to second his Heat Race. Sixth in the Dash, the A-Feature didn’t end as hoped, but overall Wayne was pleased.

“We were just too tight in the Feature. We just adjusted the wrong way and it probably took me half the race to figure out how to manipulate it and once I got up to speed, we were okay, but the restarts were killer. Just took to long to get back up to speed, but being second quick, second in the Heat, sixth in the Dash, I was happy overall.”

A two-time winner of the Knoxville 360 Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, Wayne is comfortable with where they are with the car that he can be in contention to add a third win.

“To get on the list with guys like Shane [Stewart], Terry [McCarl] that have three or more wins, especially at this stage, would be awesome. Knoxville is a place that I’ve always felt good at and have been fast at, so I’m really looking forward to this weekend. If everything plays out and we can put ourselves in the right position, I feel like we have shot.”

Wayne would like to give a special thank you to L&J Enterprises for hosting the TwoC Racing Team during the Knoxville Nationals. As Wayne put it, “you can’t beat getting to work in the Air Conditioning when it’s August in Iowa.”
