Inside Line Promotions – MASON CITY, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2018) – Scott Bogucki tuned up for arguably one of the biggest 360ci winged sprint car events in the country with a runner-up finish last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

Unfortunately, he was caught up in a crash that resulted in a 17th-place finish the next night while competing with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com at Mason City Motor Speedway.

The positive moment of the weekend came on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where Bogucki qualified fourth out of 44 entries. A sixth to fourth-place run in his heat race put him on the pole of the feature. He took the lead early, but surrendered the top spot to multi-time track champion Clint Garner on Lap 10 after getting trapped behind a lapped car. Bogucki maintained the position for the remainder of the race.

“We had the car way too free in the feature,” he said. “I knew three laps in I was going to be in trouble later in the race. I pulled the wing back as far as I could without really hurting the handling and had to stick to the cushion, which really cost me in lapped traffic.”

The runner-up finish has Bogucki confident heading into the 28th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank this Thursday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

“The great news is we have a really good car going into the Nationals,” he added. “With the format, you have to be on kill from the time you unload. You need to qualify really well and pass cars in your heat and get a very good feature finish to hopefully lock yourself into Saturday’s A Main.”

Bogucki also can’t wait to get the sour taste out of his mouth from last Sunday’s outing at Mason City Motor Speedway. He blasted from ninth to fifth in his heat race and rolled off eighth in the feature.

“I got tangled up with another car on the opening lap and that ended our night,” he said. “It could have been a lot worse. That place is one of these fastest tracks I’ve ever been to. I’ve never experienced dirty air like that.”

Besides the 360 Knoxville Nationals, Bogucki is planning on competing in the 58th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals Presented by Casey’s General Stores at Knoxville Raceway Aug. 8-11 as well as the Sage Fruit Front Row Challenge next Monday and the Ultimate ASCS Challenge next Tuesday at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

“I love all the racing we get to do over the next two weeks, especially with the car we have,” he said. “My guys have busted their butts to get us ready for this.”
