Inside Line Promotions – MASON CITY, Iowa (July 31, 2018) – Alex Hill is looking forward to getting a new engine this week after power issues slowed her racing performance last weekend.

Hill’s racing weekend began on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where she opened the night by qualifying 37th out of 44 cars.

“We realized after qualifying that we weren’t going to be fast,” she said. “The car handled real well. We were just down on power.”

Hill finished ninth in her heat race, placing her in the C Main. She was able to transfer to the B Main with a third-place finish. Hill then started 19th in the consolation race and finished 14th to end her night.

“Our car continued to handle well all night,” she said. “But Knoxville is a track where you need a lot of power and we just didn’t have it.”

Hill rejoined the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com the following night at Mason City Motor Speedway, where she finished second in her heat race after starting on the pole.

“We ran well in the heat, but just didn’t have anything for Skylar (Gee) and finished second to him,” she said. “Then we started third in the feature, but went backwards. The motor stumbled on the starts and our setup was a little off and we dropped back. We weren’t getting anywhere and I finally pulled in with a few laps to go.”

Next up is the 28th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank this weekend at Knoxville Raceway.

“We’re putting in a new Fisher motor,” she said. “We’ve been saving it just for the 360 Nationals, Canadian Nationals and the big race at Lake Ozark Speedway.

“I’m excited to race the 360 Nationals this week with the new engine. Our car has been handling well there. It just needs more power. We ran pretty well at the Nationals last year until we crashed. Hopefully we can do that again, except for the crashing.”
