Inside Line Promotions – ABERDEEN, S.D. (July 18, 2018) – Alex Hill was happy to arrive home after approximately six weeks on the road traveling with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.

Hill arrived in Six Nations, Ontario, Canada, Tuesday evening following a 20-hour drive from her latest race in South Dakota.

“I really enjoyed being on the road, but it’s always good to be home,” she said. “It will be nice to be here for about a week.”

Hill added two more new race tracks to her résumé in the last week beginning with a visit to Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyo., a week ago Wednesday. She placed second in a heat race and 12th in the feature. The A Main result tied her season-best finish with the ASCS National Tour.

“The heat race went well and we finished second,” she said. “But then it rained for a bit and the track really changed. I lost some spots early in the feature and it became difficult to pass.”

The Hill’s Racing Team then traveled to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday. She qualified 28th quickest, advanced from seventh to sixth place in a heat race and rallied from eighth to fifth place in the B Main, which was one spot shy of earning a transfer into the main event.

“Knoxville just didn’t go our way,” she said. “We couldn’t find a proper balance with our car starting in hot laps and it stayed that way the rest of the night. It was disappointing.”

The team ventured to the north for a first-time ASCS National Tour visit to Brown County Speedway on Monday.

“We had a fast car in the heat, but we had a bad draw,” said Hill, who started and finished eighth. “It was mainly one lane on the bottom and you had to hope someone would make a mistake, but they didn’t. I tried the top, but there was nothing there.”

Hill finished 14th in the feature after starting 16th.

“The track for the feature was kind of weird,” she said. “It seemed to be faster on the top, then the bottom and then the top again. It eventually took rubber on the bottom. I just got out of the way of the leaders and stayed on the top toward the end of the race.”

Returning home this time also means returning to race at her home track this Friday when she will invade Ohsweken Speedway – the site of her most recent feature win last year.

“I’m really looking forward to racing at Ohsweken, my home track,” she said. “I’m anxious to see how much we’ve improved. After so many new tracks lately, it will be nice to go back to a track that the crew and I are familiar with. It’s also nice to spend a week with family and have them able to come to the races.”
