Brian Brown Earns Season-Best Seventh Win at Knoxville Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 25, 2018) – Brian Brown has set a new standard for single-season victories at Knoxville Raceway, where he recorded his seventh triumph of the season and third in a row last Saturday.

Brown’s victory was his sixth of the year in the 410ci winged sprint car division and with his one 360ci winged sprint car triumph, the win total has climbed to seven. That surpasses his most in one season of six, which was last set in 2010.

“We’ve been very, very fortunate we’ve had a really good start there,” he said. “We’re hitting on all eight cylinders. Our cars and our engines are good enough we can tinker to try to make it better. Sometimes when you’re off on either the car or the engine it’s tough to try things. Being able to try something the last two or three weeks we’ve learned a lot. Hopefully by learning it’ll pay dividends by the way the season goes.”

Brown set quick time during qualifying before he maneuvered from sixth to second place in a heat race. The feature inversion lined him up on the outside of the second row for the 25-lap A Main.

“We knew going in that with Austin (McCarl) and Kerry (Madsen) on the front row with Terry (McCarl) on the second row with us we’d have our work cut out for us,” he said. “We were able to get by Austin early and really chase Kerry throughout. We got into traffic and a yellow came out. We were able to run to him a couple of times. I made a couple of mistakes and he’d get away. With five laps to go I was able to get a good run in turn four and go across there to put a slide job on him in turn one.”

Brown took the lead with five laps remaining and cruised to his 43rd career 410 sprint car win at Knoxville Raceway, where he will return this Friday and Saturday for a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader.

“We’re confident in general,” he said. “When you win there six times (in the 410 class) every win gives you more and more confidence. We’re trying to take it race by race. That race in August will come soon enough. We can’t worry about August. We have to think about our next race there on Friday.

“If we go in there and do our job qualifying we should be in contention to have a good finish with those guys. The World of Outlaws are the best in the world. We’ll go in there and do the best we can and use the things we’ve learned.”

Additionally, Brown wants to offer his condolences to the family and friends of Jason Johnson, who passed away last weekend.

“I had the honor to share the race track and share a few podiums with Jason,” he said on Twitter. “I always respected how hard he raced and how he ran his own team. But more than that I admired how much he loved Bobbi and Jaxx. Please keep his family and team in your prayers. RIP my friend.”
