Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 6, 2018) – Jack Dover posted a top-five finish for the sixth consecutive week thanks to a strong charge last Friday at Jackson Motorplex.

Dover, who was driving for Chris Bowers, finished where he started – third – in a heat race at the 4/10-mile oval in Jackson, Minn. That ranked him 16th in overall points out of nearly 50 competitors to garner the final lock-in position to the A Main during a race that was sanctioned by the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints, Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series.

“We didn’t feel very good in the heat race so I was just hoping we’d get a top 10 or maybe a top five,” he said. “When we took off I was able to work the bottom really well. I think we got into the top five within a few laps.”

Dover quickly maneuvered through the field and was battling for the lead near the midpoint of the 30-lap race. He took over the top spot on Lap 17 before being passed the ensuing lap. Dover regained the lead on Lap 19 before Ryan Bickett returned the favor the following lap.

“I was on the bottom and he was higher up the track,” Dover said. “The track ended up taking a bit of rubber in the lane he was running so it played to his advantage. Once I saw that I moved right up, but whoever finds rubber first is usually the winner.”

Dover crossed the finish line less than three tenths of a second behind Bickett. His rally from 16th to second place earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“I want to win every race, but it was a great night to go from 16th to second,” he said. “It was a lot of fun.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where Dover returned to his No. 53 sprint car. He qualified 20th quickest before advancing from seventh to fourth place in a heat race. Dover finished the main event where he started – 17th.

“I tried moving around, but we really struggled,” he said. “It turns out we had a left rear shock go bad. It could always be worse. We’ll just throw that night out and go on to the next one.”

Dover will return to action this Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region before competing at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., on Saturday during a Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints event.
