Brown Posts Fifth Consecutive Week With a Win at Knoxville Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 4, 2018) – Brian Brown continued his recent dominance at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday when he captured a win at the half-mile oval for the fifth consecutive week.

“Everything went as planned,” he said. “Me and Chad talked during the week about if we got into a situation where the track was slowing down we wanted to try a few things we haven’t tried in a few years. We wanted to experiment to see if we could get better.”

Brown qualified third quickest before the team elected to tweak the setup in an effort to learn. The changes were positive as Brown powered from sixth to win a heat race and become the high-points driver heading into the main event, which was inverted by four.

“We were a little nervous,” he said. “There’s a lot of good cars at Knoxville. The first three rows are the best of the best. We were starting fourth and I knew we had to make good, quality laps and get going quick. We were able to get to third pretty quick. I was able to get by Kerry (Madsen) and chase Lynton (Jeffrey) down. Then I ran as hard as I could like you’re running from the cops trying to get out of town.

“There was a red and a couple of cautions late. You never know. It gives those guys time to reflect on what they’re doing and gives them another shot at you. We had a caution on the white flag lap. Those you never want to see because you can spin the tires and not get going or give someone a run at you on the restart. Luckily our car was good enough to get the win.”

Brown took the lead on Lap 6 and led the remainder of the race to post his fourth victory of the season in the 410 division.

“We made some gains on a few things,” he said. “We have a couple of plays in the playbook if the track is one way or another. It was also Casey’s General Stores seventh win in a row at Knoxville. It’s great to have companies like Casey’s and FVP that believe in us.

“Hats off to the Dunkin family. The track has been awesome all five weeks I’ve been there. There’s two or three grooves. You can pass in the heats and the features. Those are Knoxville Nationals type tracks where it’s slick to the curb with a bottom. It’s good laps for us at Knoxville.”

Brown is scheduled to make his debut at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., on Tuesday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown before tackling the 40th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals Thursday through Saturday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

“Now that Tod (Quiring) has taken over and turned it into a premier facility it’s turned it into a crown jewel event,” Brown said of the Jackson Nationals. “It should be an awesome week. With the different track configuration it should lend itself to great racing.”

Brown finished second at Jackson Motorplex last month during his lone start this season at the recently renovated oval.
