Inside Line Promotions – WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (May 29, 2018) – Robbie Price made a pair of starts in Iowa last weekend and finished among the top 10 in both.
The BDS Motorsports driver invaded Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville on Saturday night. Price qualified seventh among a solid field of 27 entries. The native of Cobble Hill, B.C., finished fifth in the first heat race after being docked a row at the start for being late to staging. Price still earned enough points to make the feature inversion, which put him on the pole for the 18-lap A Main.
Price ran among the top five for a number of laps and ended up crossing the finish line seventh to earn his second top 10 finish of the season at Knoxville Raceway.
“I knew going into the feature that there were a lot of good cars around me,” he said. “I kind of made a couple of mistakes on the start and was running fourth or fifth for a little while. I really missed it bad in turns three and four and in one lap two cars got by me. I got a couple of them back and ended up running seventh. I learned a lot and we have really good notes on what we need to do next time. At the end of the night, we were super comfortable at Knoxville and that’s all you can really ask for.”
Price hit the track with the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway on Sunday. He won the first heat race, which put him in the “Shake-up Dash,” in which he finished second. Price started fourth in the 30-lap A Main, but had to restart at the rear after a spin. He charged his way back to finish ninth.
“In the main we got going and I was running fourth when we got up to some lapped traffic and I made a decision to hit it low in turns one and two,” he said. “I got in there a little too hot and got around. I was able to get going again and only fell back a couple spots, but they threw the yellow and I got put to the back.
“I was overdriving the car the first couple laps and when I went to the back I was able to settle down. We were rolling pretty decent. I made a few mistakes, but I learned from them and that’s very important, learning as much as you can each weekend.”
This weekend Price will race on Friday night at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., during the opening round of the DeKalb/Asgrow presents the Midwest Power Series by GRP Motorsports. That event, which is sanctioned by the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints, the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series, was slated for last Friday before being postponed by rain. The event will now pay $3,000 to win and $400 to start.
Price will head to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., on Saturday for an Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series event. He finished third at the track on May 19.
“I roll really good at Cedar Lake” he said. “Looking back at that weekend, there are a couple of things I would have changed and will be able to apply to this weekend and hopefully we’ll be able to finish a couple of spots better.”
