Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 23, 2018) – Scott Bogucki made a rare foray into 410ci sprint car action at the tough Knoxville Raceway last Saturday and his SawBlade.com backed team came away with an impressive ninth-place finish.

With a couple of weeks off from the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com, Bogucki used Saturday as a “test and tune” to determine how good his repaired chassis was going to function. Using the Ostrich Racing Engines’ “house motor” Bogucki qualified 15th quickest, ran third in his heat race and charged from 15th to ninth in the A Main.

“We got our Maxim back and we wanted to see how well it would work,” he said. “For some reason I’m one of those guys that struggles qualifying so that hurt our A Main starting position. I probably should have won the heat, but I made a mistake and got too tight. In the feature we probably should have finished sixth or seventh, but I tweaked on the car a little and got it a bit too snug. But we came from deep in the field for a top-10 finish and the car did everything I thought it would so I was very happy.

“I’ll tell you this; I realized all the times I raced before I got the Ostrich engine was like taking a spoon to a knife fight. That Ostrich engine rips. It’s a very stout piece.”

Bogucki said he will race in the 410 sprint car division at Knoxville Raceway the next two weeks before the ASCS Speedweek, which will feature six races over nine nights beginning June 8 at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas.

“Knoxville is just so tough,” he said. “The weekly competitors are some of the best in the business and the place just requires you to get a lot of laps before you feel comfortable, especially learning to run the bottom.

“We have our 360 engine at Ostrich getting ready for Speedweek. Me and the guys will use the next couple of weeks to make sure we have all the spares ready for a pretty grueling two weeks of racing.”
