Brown Captures Third Straight Win at Knoxville Following Runner-Up Result at Jackson

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 21, 2018) – Brian Brown is riding a wave of momentum as he produced his third straight triumph at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday to extend a streak of top-two finishes to five straight races.

“As a car owner what’s exciting for me is the guys’ attitudes are no different today than when we were fast earlier in the year and were having bad luck,” he said. “Chad and Michael are the best. Our cars have been fast all year long and now we’ve had a little luck to go with it. You have to ride the wave because it can change real quick.”

The weekend began on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., which hosted the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey’s Five Star Roofing as its season-opening event.

Brown qualified seventh quickest before he advanced from fourth to second place during a heat race on the recently reconfigured 4/10-mile track. That lined him up on the inside of the second row for the A Main.

“I thought it produced great action,” Brown said of the track. “We’re really looking forward to the Jackson Nationals coming up. We didn’t qualify as well as we wanted (on Friday), but we were good in the heat.

“The race didn’t play out in traffic like we wanted in the main event. We threw a haymaker at Cory Eliason for the lead, but it didn’t stick and he was able to get back by.”

Brown slid Eliason for the top spot with only a handful of laps remaining, but Eliason was able to regain the top spot and narrowly hold off Brown for the win.

Momentum from his runner-up result and back-to-back wins at Knoxville Raceway the two previous weekends guided Brown into Saturday’s event at the half-mile oval. He set quick time during qualifying to open the action.

“Our engines are really, really good,” he said. “Charlie Garrett is the best in the business. That allows us to go out and set quick time, which puts us in a good position. We had a good heat race and were the high points driver. We got lucky with the feature inversion being a zero, but we did our job to get us in that spot. Just because you get that zero doesn’t mean you get paid then.”

Brown started on the pole for the 20-lap main event and he took advantage, leading the entire race before claiming his 40th career 410ci winged sprint car main event at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

“You know you have to put 20 solid laps together with a guy like Kerry Madsen starting beside you,” he said. “We ran as hard as we could for 20 laps and got through traffic well. It’s pretty awesome to win three in a row and to win 40 races overall.

“To win these races it takes a lot of great partners like Casey’s General Stores and FVP. We have a lot of great support from a lot of great companies and components. The last three weeks at Knoxville it’s been really, really fast. When you go that hard it’s hard on stuff. Every component we choose we do so because we feel it’s the best.”

Brown is scheduled to return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday. He is aiming for his fourth straight win, which would tie him for the fourth-best winning streak at the track.
