Brian Brown Produces Second Straight Victory at Knoxville to Highlight Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 13, 2018) – Brian Brown posted his second straight feature triumph at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday when he capped a productive weekend by visiting Victory Lane.

“We’ve always had a lot of confidence that we had fast race cars, but we were missing the luck,” he said. “Now it seems like we’re getting a little luck and more momentum. Any time you can combine those you can overcome anything.”

Brown started Saturday’s show at the half-mile oval by setting quick time during qualifying at a blistering speed. He then advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. That made him the high-points driver entering the 20-lap feature, which had a zero drawn for the inversion.

“We started off the night with the ninth fastest lap in Knoxville history,” he said. “That was the fastest I’ve ever been there. Charlie Garrett Engines love when the air gets like that. Then we got lucky and got a good draw for the A Main. I was able to set sail from the start.”

After a lengthy delay following an opening-lap crash, Brown led the distance of the race to pick up his 39th career 410ci winged sprint car win at the track.

“There was a pretty gruesome wreck on the first lap,” he said. “You race against these guys and go toe to toe, but you never want to see anyone get hurt. It was good to hear everyone is going to be ok.

“It was a great win for our team and all of our partners. I appreciate Chad, Michael, my dad and everybody who works on the thing. Also, hats off to the Dunkin’s and everyone at the track. They could have thrown in the towel and said the weather wasn’t good enough, but they wanted to race and hopefully we put on a good show for the fans.”

The weekend began last Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., where Brown advanced from fourth to third place during his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com heat race.

“In that ASCS format it’s crucial to be on point in the heats to put yourself in position,” he said. “We weren’t that great in the heat. We don’t run the 360 very often and we just missed it, but fortunately it was still good enough to put us starting 11th in the A Main.

“We took a big swing at it and made it a lot better for the feature. That gave us the forward drive and side bite we needed to go from 11th to second. In the middle of the race we were pretty good. I passed Seth (Bergman) at least one or two times, but I couldn’t solidify the spot. It could have played out where we won the race, but he did a good job to get back by and go on to win. Any time you can go 11th to second with those guys it’s a good night.”

Brown’s rally to a runner-up result also garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

He is scheduled to compete this Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., during the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey’s Five Star Roofing, which was postponed from last weekend because of bad weather, before competing at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.
