Bryan Hulbert – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 4, 2018) Skylar Gee continues to improve at the famed Knoxville Raceway, scoring a fourth-place finish this past Saturday night following a 16th place showing at Paducah International Raceway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

“One of my biggest goals this season was getting better at Knoxville. I picked up my qualifying and timed sixth. We ran fourth to second in the Heat Race, and I thought I was going to get Matt Moro at the checkered flag.”

Backing up a day to Friday, April 27, Skylar made his debut at the Paducah International Raceway. While the run didn’t pan out the way he had hoped, Skylar walked away with a sense of what to do to make things better.

“One day, we’re going to get a good draw,” chuckled Skylar.

“We had a good car all night, and honestly the car wasn’t bad in the feature. It was just a learning night for me. Bryan [Sundby] pointed out some things that I needed to do differently after the B-Main, and I just didn’t apply for the feature. I need to learn to be more of a student when I’m given information.”

Shifting his attention to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday, the goal is always to run up front, but more than that, it’s to be smooth.

“Talking to my Dad about running these big tracks, he says basically every time you twitch your hands, you’re losing a tenth of a second so running Knoxville, it really teaches you to slow your hands down and be smooth. That’s what I’m focused on this weekend is just being smooth in the car. I think I’ve watched every video I can find just trying to study these tracks.”
