Price Gearing Up for First-Ever Trip to Central Pennsylvania
Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 1, 2018) – Robbie Price is venturing to Central Pennsylvania this weekend for the Battle at the Groves with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
Price and BDS Motorsports will race on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg and on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove. It will mark Price’s first event at both ovals.
“It’s definitely going to be challenging, but I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I know there are a lot of great drivers out there so it’s exciting to test yourself. We also want to learn as much as possible this weekend.”
Price is hopeful his big track experience the last two weeks at Knoxville Raceway will help. He competed at the half-mile oval last Saturday for the second straight week and improved his heat race and feature finish.
“I’m happy with my run at Knoxville,” he said. “It was night and day compared to how I did the first time there.”
Price qualified 13th quickest and placed third in a heat race to lock into the 12th starting position for the A Main.
“I had a good start and got a couple of people,” he said. “I worked by a few more guys. There was a green-white-checkered finish and I got by Travis Rilat on the restart, but I slipped up and he got back by me.”
Price finished sixth, which is now his career-best result at the track.
“I ran the bottom well, which I know is critical to being successful at Knoxville,” he said. “I was really comfortable. I think it’ll keep getting better the more we run there.”
Price kicked off last weekend on Friday at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Ky. He finished where he started – fifth – in an ASCS National Tour heat race. That relegated him to the B Main.
“I took the lead on the opening lap,” he said. “I drove up high on the start to get around a guy. I thought I was good up there. The next time around I drove it wide open and it didn’t hold me. I ended up flipping. I’ve thought about it for hours trying to figure out what happened.”
Price’s night ended early following the crash in the B Main.
“I must have hit a hole or something because I went from wide open to a complete stop after flipping a couple of times,” he said. “That was frustrating to end the night like that without getting to run the main event, but that will happen from time to time in racing.”
