Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 25, 2018) – Jamie Ball had a busy night last Saturday when he did double duty at Knoxville Raceway for the first time this season.

Ball, who competed in both the 360ci and 410ci sprint car classes, took his 410ci sprint car out to the half-mile dirt oval on Friday for some additional practice.

“We were able to get 40 green flag practice laps in the 410ci,” he said. “We were able to knock our lap time down to a 14.841 and felt really comfortable for our first double duty night in 360 and 410 at Knoxville Raceway.”

Ball kicked off Saturday night’s action by setting quick time in the 360ci sprint car class. He then advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race.

“Once again, we simply unloaded fast,” he said. “We were able to hit a great lap and get our first quick time of the 2018 season. The heat race went well and we moved forward.”

Ball was the top point driver of the night and an eight-car inversion started him on the outside of the fourth row for the 360ci feature event.

“The feature went great,” he said. “The 100 or so laps I have had in the 410ci has absolutely slowed down the feeling of the 360ci. We slowly raced our way to the front and had made it into second by Lap 12, but just didn’t have the speed we needed to contend with Clint Garner for the win. We have a little work to do, but we are very close. Overall, it was a good start to our 360 season at Knoxville.”

Ball, who placed second, bounced back and forth between the 360ci and 410ci sprint cars all night. He qualified fifth overall in the 410ci sprint car class, which lined him up inside the third row of a heat race.

“We went into our first night of doing double duty with very little expectations,” he said. “We had Ricky Logan helping us and he had the car absolutely perfect for qualifying. We went out and nailed another great lap and ended up fifth quick overall. The heat race was decent, but we fell from fifth to sixth.”

This time the feature inversion fell in Ball’s favor as it gave him the outside front row starting position for his first 410ci feature at Knoxville Raceway.

“I was a little nervous starting on the front row for my first ever 410ci feature,” he said. “However, all my guys have given me the confidence to believe in myself. The initial start wasn’t very good for me and I fell back to third. I held on within the top five most of the race until contact with a fellow competitor resulted in me getting upside down on the frontstretch. It was a disappointing end to what was going to be a fantastic 410ci debut.”

Ball’s on-track incident with five laps remaining resulted in a DNF. He was credited with an 18th-place finish.

“Overall, I couldn’t be happier at the potential we have to win races and be competitive in both the 360ci and 410ci sprint car class,” he said.
