Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2017) – Jack Dover has lofty goals entering the 57th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Store this week at Knoxville Raceway.
Dover will make his 410ci winged sprint car season debut at the marquee event, which runs Wednesday through Saturday at the half-mile oval.
“Our goal is to make the A Main on Saturday,” he said. “That would be a huge accomplishment for our team. It is going to take a strong qualifying lap to open our preliminary night. Then we’ll have to move forward in the heat race. You have to be strong every time you hit the track.”
Dover’s best-ever finish at the oval in a 410 race came during the Knoxville Nationals in 2014, when he placed second in the main event on non-qualifiers night.
“I remember we led the first half of the race before Danny Lasoski got by in traffic,” he said. “We definitely wanted to win, but to run second to Lasoski at Knoxville isn’t a bad night. That does give us confidence knowing that we can run up front at Knoxville with some of the best drivers in the sport.”
Dover is coming off bad luck last Friday when a mechanical problem sidelined him before his 27th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank preliminary night began at Knoxville Raceway.
