Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 24, 2017) – Big Game Motorsports driver Kerry Madsen was in contention for a pair of podium finishes last week before running into misfortune.

“That’s just racing,” he said. “We’ve avoided DNFs for the most part this year, but it happens.”

The Muddy sponsored team kicked off the week last Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., during the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Madsen qualified eighth quickest in his group before advancing from fourth to third place in a heat race. That lined the team up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.

“We were going pretty good,” he said. “We were up there battling for third and there was a yellow that come out. I lifted and got myself over the cushion and hit the wall so it was my fault. It knocked the rear end out of it. That was a shame.”

Madsen had maneuvered into fourth place and was aiming for at least a podium in the closing laps when the miscue relegated him to a 19th-place result.

The Muddy backed team returned to action on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where Madsen qualified third quickest before advancing from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. That gave him the pole position for the main event.

“We were running in third and had a minor engine issue so I shut it down to avoid any major damage to it,” he said.

The team was credited with a 24th-place finish.

Big Game Motorsports will compete this Friday for a $10,000-to-win event at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

“We’ve been good at Jackson so our confidence level is high,” he said. “Hopefully it plays out and we can start somewhere up front and we’ll have a good shot at winning that money.”
