Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 5, 2017) – Kerry Madsen led Big Game Motorsports to a pair of runner-up results last weekend to give the Muddy sponsored team five second-place finishes in the last dozen races.

“It’s a good weekend and you’re happy with it, but we have a bunch of seconds,” he said. “We’re so close to breaking through the gates and getting a bunch of wins.”

The action began last Thursday at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., where Madsen qualified second quickest during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event. He then placed second in a heat race and fourth in the dash to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

“We got forced into the wall and knocked the rear end out on the opening lap,” he said. “It was a bummer because we had a really fast car.”

The DNF was followed by a strong run on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., where Madsen set a new track record during qualifying. He then maneuvered from sixth to fourth place in a heat race to make the feature inversion, which lined him up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“We did pretty good to get to second,” he said. “We needed a few more laps to get the leader. Twenty laps can go pretty quick sometimes.”

Madsen charged from eighth to second place in the 20-lap main event, which earned him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where Madsen timed in second quickest during qualifying before he advanced from sixth to third place in a heat race. The feature inversion lined him up on the inside of the third row for the A Main.

“We were quick all night,” he said. “I got to second and we were pretty good. I passed for the lead with a slider with a few laps to go, but he got me right back.”

Madsen finished second and now ranks seventh in the track’s championship standings despite missing multiple races.

The Muddy backed team will compete this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., for the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.
