New SprintCarUnlimited.com Pole Award added to Knoxville Nationals

By Knoxville Raceway PR (Knoxville, IA) -- Starting on the pole of the 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores is an accomplishment for any winged sprint car driver. The chances of winning the $150,000 prize have increased, and now, before the green flag waves, the pole sitter will earn a $2,000 prize thanks to Jeremy Elliott's SprintCarUnlimited.com.

"I'm excited to be able to sponsor the SprintCarUnlimited.com Pole Award for this year's Knoxville Nationals," SprintCarUnlimited.com's Jeremy Elliott said. "The Nationals is the most prestigious sprint car race in the world, and it's an honor to be partnered with Knoxville Raceway in this new venture. The website has come a long way in a short time, and this is a good way to give back to the sport."

This is the first time in the 57-year history of the famed event that the high-point driver and therefore pole sitter will be compensated for the achievement. The pole position for the 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores is given to the driver who earned the most accumulated points across both Wednesday and Thursday qualifying nights.

"At the conclusion of Thursday's races, everyone is looking at the point standings and seeing who that high-point driver is," Kendra Jacobs, Marketing Director at Knoxville Raceway said. "Being the best of the best sprint car drivers in the world is a huge accomplishment. Having a flawless qualifying night in the Knoxville Nationals is a huge accomplishment. Thanks to Jeremy (Elliott), that accomplishment will now earn the driver and his or her team a $2,000 bonus."

The 57th annual 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores will take place August 9-12, 2017 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The race is widely considered the most prestigious in all of sprint car racing with a $1 million total purse. The event features nearly 100 of the most talented sprint car drivers in the world competing over four days in front of nearly 23,000 fans.

Tickets for the 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores are available for purchase at http://www.knoxvilleraceway.com or by calling the Knoxville Raceway ticket office at 641-842-5431.
