Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 25, 2017) – White Lightning Motorsports produced a pair of strong results last Saturday during the 64th annual season opener at Knoxville Raceway.

“We set a goal to be top five or better at the end of every night this season and we achieved that goal on Night 1,” Jamie Ball said. “Consistency is something we are working very hard for in 2017.”

Ball opened the night timing in eighth quickest overall. He then advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race.

“The track was very tricky this week as it was uncharacteristically slick compared to past season openers,” he said. “The bottom was narrow, but our car was working well.”

Ball lined up on the inside of the second row in the main event.

“You had to be patient to make your car work with the track conditions,” he said. “I was able to get into third place ahead of (Seth) Bergman before a slip up off of turn two relegated us back to fourth.”

Ball ended the season opener with a fourth-place result.

“We have some things to work on, but to be close already gives us confidence going forward with the season at Knoxville Raceway,” he said.

Teammate Devin Kline also competed at Knoxville Raceway in the 360ci sprint car division.

Kline qualified 13th quickest out of 28 cars. He then finished sixth in a heat race and ended the feature where he started – 16th.

“We were pretty happy with the qualifying effort being the first race of the season,” Kline said. “We survived the heat race. I mean there were some guys there that compete on a national level in our heat, so we took that as an opportunity to learn as much as we can with different driving styles. We had worked our way up to 12th in the main, but weren’t able to hang on and fell back. But we’ve learned a lot going into next weekend.”

Ball and Kline will both return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.

“We’ve made a few adjustments and are specifically looking to better our qualifying effort,” Ball said. “With the new point format, you have got to put in a solid qualifying effort and heat race effort to be eligible for the main event inversion. But everybody at White Lightning Motorsports is having fun and it’ll be a great season.”
