TKS Motorsports- Podium Finish Wraps up Knoxville Season!

The TKS Motorsports #2KS team and driver Craig Dollansky wrapped up their Knoxville Raceway season with a third place finish Saturday night. The solid season and Saturday’s finish cemented their standing in the Knoxville Championship Cup Series in fourth place. The National Sprint League title is still within grasp, however, with six nights remaining on the schedule. The first step will be at this weekend’s Jackson Nationals in Jackson, Minnesota.

Craig would time in tenth quick at Knoxville Saturday, before charging from third to win his heat. Starting on the pole of the feature, he led early before finishing third. “I went a little too far in the feature with the car,” says TKS Motorsports owner and crew chief, Troy Renfro. “That was all on me. I didn’t think the bottom would stay like it did. I thought the groove would be on the cushion at the end, and I freed it up a touch too much. The bottom stayed in and we should have tightened up a bit more. We gave it away a little bit, but we’ll be ready for Jackson.”

The big picture saw another podium finish at Knoxville and with the NSL. “We’re happy with another podium finish and getting fourth in points,” says Troy. “For our second year in business, we’ve built a good, strong, program. The three teams ahead of us at Knoxville have way more budget than we do, but what we do have is great stuff. Craig is a great driver.”

The Elk River, Minnesota driver is just 128 points behind Danny Lasoski in the NSL point race. “We still have a lot of racing to do,” says Troy. “We’ll try to get this point lead back. It’s been a good battle with the Big Game team. We’ve got to go out and get it done. I’m extremely confident that we can do it. Craig is healthy again, and he’s driving the best I’ve seen him drive in years. We have a great program.”

Craig has two wins at Jackson already in 2016. “Overall, we’ve been really good at Jackson this year,” says Troy. “We’re really confident going in. Scott Gerkin has worked hard to get our 1 Way Technologies engine fresh for this weekend. That’s what we’ve run there all season. So we’re going back with the same package that Craig is comfortable with there.”

Troy is confident in Craig and the team. “He’s really on top of his game right now,” he says of Craig. “We’ve been able to stick with things through last year, and this year it’s paying off. We have a great team, and I’ve been happier the last two years than I’ve been in a long, long time. We’re working hard and everyone is invested 100%. We just have to go out and win races. Everything else will take care of itself.”
