Inside Line Promotions – CALIFORNIA, Mo. (July 28, 2016) – Josh Baughman capped last weekend with his fifth podium result of the season on Sunday at Double X Speedway.

“We’re always good at Double X,” he said. “I like that place a lot. We were good early on. We just missed the setup a little toward the end.”

Baughman advanced from sixth to third place in an ASCS Warrior Region heat race to make the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 5 during the random redraw to start the main event on the inside of the third row.

“We were really good early,” he said. “We passed for the lead one time about halfway through. We slid back and forth. He slid me going into turn one and he didn’t quite slide me. It took me out.”

Baughman held on for a third-place finish.

The weekend began the previous night at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where Baughman did double duty racing his 410ci and 360ci sprint cars.

“It was the first time in a long time we did both,” he said. “We had a lot of speed. We had fast cars in both classes. I felt like we had a top-five car in both classes.”

Baughman qualified 12th quickest and won a heat race after starting fourth in the 360 class. He then maneuvered from 11th to a fifth-place result in the main event.

“We were really good in the 360 car,” he said. “We just qualified too far back to race for the win, but any time you can move forward and get a top five at Knoxville it’s great for the team.”

Baughman was on pace similar success in the 410 division, which was a National Sprint League event. He timed in 10th quickest overall and placed third in a heat race to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.

“I think we were up to sixth at one time,” he said. “I just got tired. I started missing my marks and so I pulled off before I tore the car up.”

Baughman was credited with a 21st-place result.

He will return to action this weekend with Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour races on Thursday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., and Sunday at Badlands Motor Speedway in Brandon, S.D. Baughman will also compete with the National Sprint League on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
