Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 23, 2016) – Brian Brown led the distance of the 25-lap National Sprint League main event on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

The win was Brown’s second of the season with the National Sprint League – both at Knoxville Raceway – and it propelled him into third place in the championship standings.

Brown took advantage of his front row starting position and a little fortune on the opening lap of the feature. Following a caution on the initial green flag for Josh Baughman jumping the start, polesitter Ian Madsen beat Brown into turn one to take the lead.

However, Madsen slowed dramatically as he exited turn four on the opening lap and Brown narrowly took the lead before the start-finish line. Danny Lasoski barely missed the slowing Madsen before Lasoski mounted the first of multiple charges at Brown for the lead.

Lasoski tried a slide job in turns three and four on Lap 2, but Brown’s momentum kept him in the top spot. Midway through the race traffic allowed Lasoski to close to Brown’s bumper, which was as close as anyone got to getting around Brown.

Brown held on to the lead for the duration as he lapped up to ninth place. Lasoski finished in the runner-up position by a little more than seven tenths of a second. It marked his series-leading eighth podium of the season.

National Sprint League points leader Craig Dollansky rounded out the podium. He now holds a 33-point lead in the championship standings over Lasoski.

Sammy Swindell passed Dustin Selvage for fourth place on Lap 24. Selvage’s fifth-place result is a season-high in National Sprint League competition.

Lasoski opened the night by setting quick time during qualifying for a series-best sixth time this season. Cory Eliason, Tasker Phillips and Swindell were the heat race winners.

The National Sprint League returns to action with a tripleheader next weekend, featuring events on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn.; on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway; and on Sunday at Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa.
