Kerry Madsen Captures First Career National Sprint League Win at Knoxville Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 28, 2016) – Kerry Madsen became the fourth different feature winner in four National Sprint League events this season on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where he led all 25 laps to capture his first career victory with the series.

“I ran it as hard as I could wide open,” he said. “We set a really quick pace for a 25-lap race. I pushed hard. You have some good cars behind you so you push as hard as you can.”

Madsen maintained the top spot throughout the feature, but the rest of the top five was up for grabs during an action-packed race. The feature went green for the final 21 laps after being slowed by three cautions in the first five laps.

Dusty Zomer advanced from eighth to fourth place by the first caution, which was a red flag on Lap 2 for eighth-running Dustin Selvage, who flipped in turn one. Zomer took third place on a restart following the second caution on Lap 4, when ninth-running A.J. Moeller spun in turn four, and he claimed the runner-up position on Lap 10.

Craig Dollansky, who gave Madsen a close battle for the lead during the first couple of laps, stayed in a podium position throughout the main event and he placed third. That helps him keep pace with series points leader Danny Lasoski, who finished fourth and now holds a 10-point advantage in the championship standings.

Brian Brown scored a fifth-place result with Ian Madsen, Bronson Maeschen, 14th starting Terry McCarl, Davey Heskin and B Main winner Justin Henderson, who powered from 17th to earn the Hard Charger Award, rounding out the top 10, respectively.

Heskin opened the night by setting quick time during qualifying before Moeller, McCarl and Austin McCarl each won a heat race.

The National Sprint League will return to action on Sunday when the series will make its lone visit of the season to Iowa State Fair Speedway in Des Moines, Iowa.
