ARGABRIGHT TO INTERVIEW DAVENPORT ON FRIDAY OF KNOXVILLE LATE MODEL NATIONALS AT SPRINT CAR MUSEUM

Fans that attended the National Sprint Car Museum’s special forums the last three years during the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals featuring Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer and Jimmy Owens, respectively, won’t want to miss this year’s “An Afternoon with Jonathan Davenport,” again emceed by award-winning veteran journalist Dave Argabright. The forum will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 25, on the second floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum.

Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Georgia, is also known as “Superman” and he has certainly lived up to his moniker in 2015. He is the current point leader of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and he has won with LOLMDS, World of Outlaws (WoO) and United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) at the following dirt late model tracks this season: Brunswick, Georgia; Chillicothe, Ohio; Tazewell, Tennessee; Union, Kentucky (twice, including the “North/South 100”); Columbus, Mississippi; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Wheatland, Missouri (thrice, including the “Show-Me 100”); Gaffney, South Carolina; Fairbury, Illinois (“Prairie Dirt Classic”); New Richmond, Wisconsin (twice, including the “USA Nationals 100”); and Rossburg, Ohio (thrice, including the “Dirt Late Model Dream”). He has not yet won the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals and he will be looking to change that statistic this year on Saturday, September 26.

According to museum curator Tom Schmeh, “We can’t thank Jonathan Davenport enough for agreeing to be our special guest this year. He is having a break-out season in his Rumley-powered Longhorn chassis and we appreciate his willingness to take time out of his busy schedule to speak to our museum guests. National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Dave Argabright will do a fantastic job of drawing career information out of Jonathan, including stuff about winning his first two mini-stock track titles in 1995 and ’96 at the Tri-County Speedway in North Carolina and his two Southern Nationals Series dirt late model titles in 2010 and ’13, respectively. This is going to be both educational and entertaining. Dirt track fans won’t want to miss this forum, which is free with a paid museum admission, on Friday at 11:30 a.m.”
