FVP National Sprint League News and Notes from Moberly, Knoxville and Sun Prairie!

FVP National Sprint League News and Notes from Moberly, Knoxville and Sun Prairie!

Windom, MN (September 1, 2015) – Another busy weekend with the FVP National Sprint League saw two new track records sent and more great crowds in three different venues. Danny Lasoski emerged victorious at both the Randolph County Raceway near Moberly, Missouri and at Angell Park Speedway Sunday night in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Justin Henderson broke through for his first NSL win Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway in Iowa. The NSL has another big weekend in store. Friday and Saturday, September 4 and 5 will be the $130,000 Jackson Nationals with Saturday’s winner claiming $25,000. On Sunday, the series moves on to Huset’s Speedway south of Brandon, South Dakota for its final appearance of the season there.

Dude Does it Again – Though his starting spots were good (second at Moberly and fourth at Sun Prairie), Lasoski had to work for his wins last weekend. Terry McCarl led early on the high banks at Moberly before Lasoski found the higher line around him. He needed a late restart to pass Brad Loyet at Sun Prairie. The wins were Dude’s eighth and ninth of the season with the NSL. Lasoski is eligible for the DeBerg Concrete $25,000 Triple Crown Challenge if he can win Saturday night at the Jackson Nationals.

Blistering an old record – It had been almost 30 years since 410 sprint cars had been to Fairmont, so you had to figure the one-lap track record would fall. Who knew that it would be broken by over three seconds? Ian Madsen covered the banked ½-mile oval in an unreal 14.244 seconds, and average speed of around 127 miles per hour! Ian had a good weekend, finishing second at Fairmont and fifth at Huset’s, moving himself into second place in the standings.

Another record for Ian – For the second week in a row, Ian Madsen set a new track record on high banked ½-mile. His sub fourteen-second lap at Randolph County Raceway was an average speed of 129.1 miles per hour.

Speaking of Records – Bill Balog enjoyed racing near home on Sunday night in Sun Prairie. He came out 39th in the order in the 42-car field and set a new track record on the 1/3-mile oval. His lap of 11.985 seconds bested Jordan Goldesberry’s standard of 12.051 that was barely a week old. The “North Pole Nightmare” capped another solid weekend with a fourth place run.

Henderson in Control at Knoxville – Justin Henderson became the tenth different winner this year with the FVP National Sprint League. He led all 25 laps in claiming the $5,000 NSL win. It was his fourth of the season in the 410 class at Knoxville.

Central Missouri Fans Showing Support – Despite Friday night football starting up and the race having been rescheduled from May, fans from Central Missouri showed up in force at the Randolph County Raceway. It was the first time in 25 years that 410 sprint cars had howled on the high banks, and the fans weren’t cheated in a non-stop breathtaking 30-lap main event.

Up and Down for Brown – Entering Moberly, Brian Brown had never lost a 360 event at Moberly. He was running a strong race when he had a header break on the right side of the car Friday. He came back strong at Knoxville, gaining on Henderson at the checkers and finishing second. He ended the weekend with a ninth place finish in Sun Prairie in his first appearance there. Overall, the car looked strong all weekend and Brian should be a factor in Jackson this week.

Happy to be Back at the Prairie – Angell Park Speedway was like going home for Brad Loyet and Bryan Clauson. They both have tasted victory at the 1/3-mile oval in midgets. Neither missed a beat in their sprint cars. Loyet led 21 of the 30 laps before finishing second, and Clauson was second quick and finished in the top five.
